Understanding Greenhouse Bases and Foundations

We offer a range of greenhouse options with various base dimensions and configurations. The greenhouse base (40mm wide x 80mm tall) is the aluminium frame that sits on the foundation, while the foundation provides solid support — whether that's a concrete slab, nib wall, or stakes.

The foundation is supplied by the customer, which is why we provide detailed guides to ensure correct dimensions are built. Proper installation ensures your greenhouse withstands the elements and lasts for years.

Key Considerations:

  • Surface vs. Flush Mount: Surface mount brackets are L-shaped and attach the greenhouse to a wider or centred footing. Flush mount brackets align the base directly with the edge of the foundation.

  • Part Numbering: Brackets and components are labelled with a part number followed by length in millimetres (e.g., L630-3220 = profile L630, 3220mm long). Always confirm part numbers when ordering foundation components.
  • Bracket Placement: We recommend attaching brackets internally for a tidier finish, though inside or outside placement is possible depending on your preference.
  • Brackets Included by Model Size:
    • All 10ft wide standard greenhouses include surface mounting brackets and 80mm corner joiners.
    • 6ft wide 16ft+ and 8ft wide 16ft+ models also include surface mounting brackets and corner joiners.
    • Smaller models include 300mm corner stakes for ground installation. Foundation mounting kits (flush or surface, pack of 12) are available to purchase separately.

  • Extension Models (16ft+): Include a partition wall that protrudes 500mm into the greenhouse and requires footing support underneath. Partition wall with footing support
  • Multizone Greenhouses (10x12, 10x16, 10x20, 10x24): Feature an internal sliding door with the base running continuously underneath — footing support across this span is required.
  • Elite Series: Sit on a 600mm nib wall built by the customer. The glasshouse base attaches internally flush with the brickwork using W05A flush mount brackets. W05A flush mount brackets for Elite models

For all models, we recommend consulting a local builder or engineer to ensure compliance with building codes and site-specific conditions. Professional installation services are available — visit our installers page to find a recommended installer near you.
