Help & FAQs
Is this the same company as Winter Gardenz?
Great question — we were previously part of the same company.
As of 1 April 2026, the kitset greenhouse division was separated from the custom design side of the business in New Zealand. The Greenhouse Company (GHCO) continues to be owned and operated by the founder of Winter Gardenz, John Herrick, while Winter Gardenz Ltd is now run by his brother, Peter Herrick, with a focus on commercial and custom greenhouse projects.
For a transitional period, kitset greenhouses will still be available for purchase through the Winter Gardenz website; however, these orders will be fulfilled by the newly formed company, The Greenhouse Company (GHCO).
Importantly, the greenhouses themselves remain exactly the same in quality, design, and manufacture.
Are Your Glasshouses Made in New Zealand?
Yes! Our glasshouses are manufactured in New Zealand and are Certified New Zealand Made. Designed specifically for local conditions, they deliver lasting durability, reliable support, and real peace of mind.
Do I Need Building Consent?
Most kitset glasshouses under 30 square metres don't require building consent. Larger structures or installations in public spaces may need documentation — we're happy to help with that if required.
How Is My Glasshouse Delivered?
Due to their size and weight, glasshouses are shipped to your nearest Mainfreight depot. You'll need a trailer to collect your order — the depot will forklift the crate onto it for you.
What Tools Do I Need for Assembly?
- Cordless impact driver (with the supplied 10mm nut setter/socket)
- Phillips head screwdriver
- Set square, spirit level, and tape measure
- Scissors or a sharp knife
- Bucket of warm soapy water (helps with fitting the rubber beading)
Where Can I Find Base/Foundation Dimensions?
Visit the product page for your chosen glasshouse size and click 'Download Foundation Page' to get the exact base dimensions you need.
How Difficult Is Assembly?
Watch our installation videos to get a feel for the process. Most glasshouses can be assembled with patience and a free weekend. If you'd prefer a professional finish, we also offer installation services.
As a guide, an 2.6x2.6m glasshouse typically takes two people around one full day to build.
Why Choose GHCO?
We don't just sell glasshouses, we stand behind them. Unlike cheaper alternatives, our glasshouses include:
- Sturdy aluminium framing guaranteed not to rust
- 4mm toughened safety glass
- New Zealand manufacturing and local customer support
Investing in a quality glasshouse means less frustration, lower long-term costs, and a structure built to last.
